Working Well-being Promotion of Professional Nurse: Lessons Learned from the Inspiration Project

Abstract

          Promotion of working well-being for professional nurses should be considered by organizations, because nursing is a profession that works for 24 hours. Therefore, administrators must provide methods to promote a working well-being both on organization level and on individual level. The methods proposed on this paper were synthesized from success factors that promote working well-being which was assessed from the “promotion of well-being in healthcare from spirit of humanity project” also known as “Inspiration project” which aims to create methods to promote healthy working spirit in healthcare system. These methods could be supported by the concept of positive psychology. On organization level, these methods provide support for the following activities 1) developing nurse’s knowledge and skill for doing research 2) creating a safe working environment 3) developing work and organization loyalty 4) strengthening mentality and 5) developing workplace spirituality. On individual level, these methods are approaches for each nurses to use their own internal driving force to improve the following 1) problem solving during work 2) understanding and knowing the value of their work 3) caring for patience wholeheartedly 4) being useful 5) working with commitment 6) developing loyalty for career, coworker and organization 7) developing courage, responsibility, determination, honesty and positivity and 8) developing team working skill. All of the mentioned methods will promote working wellbeing for professional nurses and improve them as a person.
