Abstract

This routine to research (R2R) descriptive cross-sectional study investigated factors
related to over nutrition in health care staff in Prayuen District, Khon Kaen Province. The
participants of the study included health care staff who had been employed at government
health providers in Prayuen District at least 6 months. The data were collected from the
records of the staff who had their health checkup at Prayuen Hospital in 2014. Records
from 113 participants were analyzed using Stata. Data analysis included descriptive statistics
and comparisons using chi-squared tests.
Participants were categorized into two groups: normal BMI (18.7-22.9) or overweight
(BMI>22.9). The average age and weight of overweight participants was 45.3 years (S.D.=
6.15) and 68.5 kilograms (S.D.=8.23), respecitvely. Blood pressure in the overweight group
was 51.7 higher than the normal-weight participants. The average blood sugar level and
cholesterol of overweight participants was 100.6 mg/dl (S.D.=23.98) and 216.9 mg/dl (S.D.=
56.97), respectively. Triglycerides in the overweight group were 151.48 mg/dl (S.D.=2.85).
Comparing between the groups, age, blood pressure level, and triglyceride were
statistically significantly different (p-value<0.05).
