Opinions on Willingness-to-pay of Drugstore Owners for Full-time Pharmacist Employment

Abstract

Objective: To survey opinions on willingness-to-pay of drugstore owners for full time pharmacist employment. Methods: The subjects were 927 of drugstore owners who were Thai Pharmacy Association members all over Thailand. Data were collected using self-administered mail questionnaire. Results: 309 of the returned questionnaires were analyzed. Willingness-to-pay of drugstore owner for monthly pharmacist salary (not including payment for professional pharmacy license) and professional pharmacy license per month were 22,874.67 baht and 6,897.92 baht respectively. However, drugstore owners were not willing to pay for overtime working for pharmacists. Furthermore, the other payments for which drugstore owners were willing to pay were incentive, commission and social security. Willingness-to-pay for pharmacist employment varied among the characteristics of drugstore owners and drugstores. Conclusion: Drugstore owners were willing to pay for full time pharmacist employment (not including payment for license) and professional pharmacist licenses at 22,874.67 baht and 6,897.92 baht respectively. The other payment they were willing to pay was incentives for driving returns.
