Factors Associated with Unsuccessful Suicide

Suicide is a major public health problem, causing many losses. Information in each area may be similar or different. This retrospective analysis studied among the population living in Amphur Muang, Suphanburi province. Data were collected from the suicide surveillance report and the medical records of Chaophrayayommarat hospital from 2018-2022. The objective was to study factors associated with suicide attempts. The study found that most unsuccessful suicide attempters were female, in married, the average age was 34.7 ± 15.1 years and work as a hired worker. The most common method was drug overdose and the cause of suicide attempt was relationship problems. Factors associated with unsuccessful suicide were gender, suicide methods, suicide intention, warning signs to suicide, relationship problems and chronic illness problems. Most patients were diagnosed with major depressive disorder. In summary, many factors are found to be associated with unsuccessful suicide. These factors can be used to plan monitoring measures and prevention guidelines of repeated suicides among the people in the area.
