Abstract

An iron deficiency anemia in children aged six months to three years old is the common problem in Thailand and  around the world. The objective of this quasi-experimental  research was to evaluate the results of the iron promotion  program on parental participation for iron deficiency  prevention in six-month-old children at Well-Child Clinic,  Primary Care Unit, Buddhachinaraj Phitsanulok Hospital  between December 2021-September 2022. The numbers of  this study were 56 (study group = 28, control group = 28).  Study group received an iron promotion program and control group received routine guideline. The variables of this study were level of parental participation, hematocrit level, and anemia in child. The statistics were Chi-square  test, Mann-Whitney U test and Independent-t test. This  study showed that study group had numbers of the high- level parental participation higher than control group  significantly (p = 0.011). Study group had higher hematocrit  level than control group significantly (p = 0.027). Thus, the  iron promotion program improved parental participation,  hematocrit /hemoglobin level and decrease numbers of  anemia in six-month-old children
