Covid Management Model in Prison

Prisons are at high risk of the spread of covid-19outbreaks becausedensity of inmates. The objectives of this retrospective cohort research were to study the factors contributing to the outbreak, severity of covid-19 and evaluating the development of a covid-19 management model in prison. A study was conducted in prison in Phitsanulok Province, collecting data from the medical information system during December 2021 to June 2022. Analyzed by multiple logistic regression and McNemar test. The first round of covid-19 outbreaks (December 2021 to January 2022) was 2,146 out of 2,540 inmates (84.5%), the second round (late March 2022 to early May 2022) 1,745 out of 2,692 inmates (64.8%).The rate of pneumonia decreased from 10% in the first outbreak to 0.3% in the second outbreak. The results showed that proper area arrangement was statistically significant factor and personal risk was significant factor influencing severity of covid-19. The comparison before and after the development of covid management model in prison showed a statistically significant reduction in outbreak and severity of covid-19. Thus, the management of covid-19 in prisons must focus on proper area arrangement. Along with classification of individual risk for prompt, close care and receive appropriate antiviral drugs to reduce the spread of covid-19 in prison and create safety for inmates
