Abstract

The objectives of this cross- sectional study was to study Behaviors on Chemical
Pesticide Application of Chili Growers in Ban Don Daeng YaiNong Lao Sub-district, Muang
Sam Sip District, Ubon Ratchathani Province. Questionnaire and Observation were used for
77 Chili Growers farmers. Descriptive statistics were performed using STATA statistical
program.
The results of the study revealed the following findings: the majority of chili
growers were male ( 67. 53% ) ; average age were 48 years; Most of the primary school
graduates (66.23%). Some farmers are community leaders ( 75.32%) . They are village
health volunteers. The average farm size is 19 rai. The average area of pepper
plantation was only 2 rai. The average income of pepper planters was 80,291 baht per
year. Most of the farmers (84.21%) borrowed money to invest in average of 117,302
baht. From the Bank for Agriculture and Agricultural Cooperatives and the Housing
Fund Farmers have experienced a 15- year- old chilli growing season, beginning in
September. The most popular pepper varieties were 46% 150x150 cm. in a row with
1 plant per hole using chemical fertilizer 15-15-15 50 kg per rai. How to sprinkle around
the bush. Farmers use weed and spraying chemicals. Chilli disease was found to be a
disease of root and scleroderma, powdery mildew, dry leaf disease, leaf spot disease,
wilt disease, leaf blight and leaf blight disease respectively. Vegetables Larvae, cotton
buds, white mite, aphids and aphids respectively. (Red) have the habit of using pesticide
to prevent and eliminate pests. The results revealed that thechili growers followed
recommended chemical pesticide application behaviors There are still a number of issues
that farmers are still exposed to, such as the use of open mouths, chemicals, and mouth
blowing or sucking spray nozzles when experiencing problems. The clogging of the
nozzle, which farmers argue that it is most likely because in the middle of the park at the
time of injecting tons to find a long distance technician. And fearing that the spray is not
finished. Raising the awareness and impact of pesticide use on farmers. Process focus
Community participation includes providing information on the prevention of personal
hazards in farmers. This will affect the desirable behavior in preventing or reducing the
problem of being affected by the use of pesticides. This leads to better quality of life.
