Main Article Content
Abstract
Objective: To evaluate the spiritual well-being (SWB) of end stage renal disease patients with comprehensive conservative treatment (ESRD-CCT). Methods: This descriptive study was conducted in 140 patients with ESRD-CCT visiting the specialized outpatient department for chronic kidney diseases in Sirindhorn Hospital, Khon Kaen Province, during February to April 2021. The study collected the data on SWB by interviewing the patients using two measures in Thai version, for confirmation of the result, including the World Health Organization’s Quality Of Life-Spirituality, Religion and Personal Beliefs (WHOQOL-SRPB BREF), and the Functional Assessment of Chronic Illness Therapy-spiritual well-being scale (FACIT-Sp). Results: The median scores (interquartile range) of WHOQOL-SRPB BREF scores was 3.6 (1.0) implying that SWB was at a moderate to high level. That measured by the FACIT-Sp was 34.0 (9.0) implying that SWB was at a moderate to a rather high level. Conclusion: Patients with ESRD-CCT showed a moderate to high level of SWB. The results might be used by healthcare providers in providing holistic spiritual care to patients with ESRD in order to improve SWB of patients in the future.
