Their opinions towards 5 characteristics of THDs were as follows: 1) They were reliable drugs, compatible to informant values because modern physicians prescribed them in the hospitals. 2) Most of these drugs were difficult to use with bad taste, but were easy to carry. 3) They could be easily purchased for trial with no need of prescription. However, it was difficult to buy since they were available in a few stores. 4) They were effective in treating mild symptoms, but requiring to take a large amount of drug. However, they were safe. 5) When compared with modern household drugs used in the treatment of the same symptoms, 5 characteristics of THDs were more expensive, but safer. Conclusions: The informants in this study showed positive perception on the characteristics of 5 characteristics of THDs with tendency to adopt THDs in initial treatment of illness.
