Situations on the Utilizations of Annual Health Checkup Services among the Beneficiary of Social Security Schemes in Lamphun

Abstract

Objective: 1) to study the situation on the provision of annual health checkup services (AHCS) for beneficiary of social security scheme (BSSS) working in factories located in Lamphun, 2) to study the criteria the BSSS used for selecting the providers of AHCS in order to develop guidelines to control health checkup service system. Method: The descriptive study was conducted by surveying the provision of AHCS from 25 coordinators of factory, 7 officers of health checkup service providers, 120 of the BSSS. The study also interviewed 3 authorities. Data analysis was conducted using content analysis. Results: Most of the provision of AHCS among the BSSS in factories located in Lamphun (85.71–100%) complied with legal standards. The majority of factories (84 %) mainly selected AHCS from service charge per person. They also considered the quality of service providers and past services. Service users and providers followed the Ministry of Public Health's announcement regarding other sanatoriums exempted from the regulations in Sanatorium law. Conclusion: Relevant authorities should develop guidelines for controlling AHCS and distribute it to other areas.
