A Decade of Immunization Research in Southern Border: A Systematic Review
Main Article Content
Abstract
This article is aimed at presenting an overview of immunization research conducted in Sothern border between 2009-2019. Both published and unpublished of full research papers both in Thai and English were included for systematic review of evidence as proposed by Joanna Briggs Institute 2017 edition. The result of systematic review showed that 12 articles met the critical appraisal criteria. Seven of them were the study of factors associated to immunization while the other 5 were related to an improvement of immunization services. Content analysis found that the main factors influencing on decision making of the guardian for immunization were side effect of vaccine, knowledge and understanding about vaccination, and service behaviors among staff. On the other hand, studies on the development of immunization service mostly discussed on Adverse Events Following Immunization (AEFI) and development of monitoring and evaluation of vaccine coverage. Future research in Southern border areas should focus on action research in promoting knowledge and understanding of the people on vaccine, related Islamic principles, management of vaccination’s side effect, improvement of service behaviors of health personnel as well as developing strategies or approaches to promote vaccine coverage in the area.
