A study of the results of the evaluation of good pharmacy practice in modern drug stores, Kamphaengphet Province.

Abstract

Objective: To study the evaluation results of compliance with standards of Good Pharmacy Practice of modern drug stores in Kamphaengphet province and to study the problems from Good Pharmacy Practice compliance in the modern drug stores. Methods: This research is a descriptive research. The researcher evaluated the modern drugstores by using the Good Pharmacy Practice record format of the Bureau of Food and Drug Administration.The sample group consisted of 67 modern drug stores. Results: 56.7 % of modern drug stores in Kamphaengphet province received a license before June 25, 2014, were both a licensee and pharmacist of 41.8%. The modern drug stores were licensed in the form of individual for 85.1% and were certified as a quality drug store, only 7.5%. For the evaluation of Good Pharmacy Practice, the category that has the highest average percentage of points is Category 2 Equipment (99.6%), followed by Category 3 Personnel (98.5%) Category 1 Place (95.2%) and Category 4 Drug quality control (90.1%). The lowest percentage of the average score was Category 5, compliance with community pharmacy practices (85.4%). When considering the percentage of the lowest score of each category, it was found that all modern drug stores passed the assessment due to the lowest score were higher than 70%. Conclusion: The modern drug stores in Kamphaengphet province could follow Good Pharmacy Practice. Although some requirements had been assessed at a fair level or an improvement level but considering the details in each specification, most of them were management problems. This must controlled and gave advice to correct, improve and prevent future criteria.
