Development of Demonstration Software for Taking Care Of Patients with Warfarin Use at Pattani Hospital
Main Article Content
Abstract
Objective: To analyze the work system for caring patients in warfarin clinic at Pattani Hospital and to design the appropriate software for work system in warfarin clinic. Methods: The researchers analyzed data management system by collecting the information on procedures for medical services, pharmaceutical care and data management for patients with warfarin use. The researchers also surveyed the needs for data management among 13 related medical personnel including 5 physicians, 5 pharmacists, 2 nurses, and 1 medical technician. Subsequently, the researchers summarized the result on the analysis of work system and had software designers evaluate the completeness of the system analysis, develop demonstration software, test it, evaluate the satisfaction among users and improve the software. Results: The hospital used the HOSxP as software for general services for patients. However, it was possible to link the data in this software for developing the software specific for patients with warfarin use. The result from the analysis of data management system and that from the interview of 13 related medical personnel pointed to the need for developing computerized data management system to facilitate data collection and information search. Personnel also required that demonstration software should be linked to the HOSxP, able to assist dosage adjustment of warfarin, and able to generate report. The researchers employed the results from system analysis and user requirements as inputs for software designer to develop demonstration software. The use of developed software needed password in order to secure the data. Evaluation of satisfaction toward developed software among 13 related medical personnel who provided the information on user requirements showed that they were satisfied and the software was useful in practice. The satisfaction level was 100% on almost all issues of evaluation except for medical information, laboratory results and appointment dates with 69.23% of satisfaction. Conclusion: The analysis of work system in warfarin clinic led to the development of demonstration software that satisfied the related personnel in almost all aspects of evaluation.
