Model Development for Teenage Pregnancy Prevention in Phetchabun Province

Abstract

Teenage pregnancy is an important problem of Thai public health. This participatory action research, using group processes and life skills aimed to designed model development for teenage pregnancy prevention in  Petchaboon province. The three student groups including high school level, technical college and non-formal  education were included. There were four steps of study 1) studied the causes and factors affecting the  problem 2) developed the model for teenage pregnancy prevention. The model required cooperation of 3 groups: family, school and community 3) applied the model with three student groups. Then promote the  district health improvement and standard health-friendly services for teenagers 4) evaluated the results after using the model. Duration of the research was January to December 2017. The results showed that the causes of teenage pregnancy were the negative conditions from family life-being impact, surrounding social   media, control management of education places and the teenagers’ own self. After using the model, the   sexual attitudes and skills in preventing sex in the school age of the student before and after training were statistically significant difference. These results can lead the development of fertility health district and  friendly clinic for teenagers.
