Teenage pregnancy is a worldwide important problem. In Thailand, the teenage pregnancy is
considered a major problem due to obviously increasing. This descriptive research aimed to study the
incident and factors associated with teenage pregnancy who delivered at the Buddhachinaraj Phitsanulok
hospital based on reference information from the screening of teenage pregnancy in Adolescent clinic.
The data of adolescent patients who delivered at the hospital matching data during the period of one year
were collected. The results found that pregnant women who give birth at Buddhachinaraj Phitsanulok hospital
were 3,482 cases and the numbers of teenage give birth were 588 cases (16.9%), that had median
age 17 years old (age 13-20 years old) with a majority of pregnant was unplanned 580 cases (98.6%).
The leading cause of pregnancy were teenage think they were unlikely to be able to conceive easily 484
cases (82.3%) and had the error in contraception 93 cases (15.8%). The factor associated with teenage
pregnancy was age of their mothers. When divided teens into two groups: age less than 15 years and 15
to 20 years, the median maternal age at first pregnancy of grandmother was 36 years old in the first group
and 19 years old in the second group (p < 0.001). In conclusion, the incidence of teenage pregnancy
at Buddhachinaraj Phitsanulok hospital was very high and associated factor was age of first pregnancy
of their mother.
