Abstract

In Lampang, the incidence of suicide was in ten highest suicide report provinces in Thailand in 2017-2021. To study the incidence of suicide in different types from autopsy reports performed by forensic doctors at Lampang Hospital during 2017-2021. The data was categorized by gender, age, and method of suicide, and analyzed using the chi-square test from a total of 5,842 deceased individuals. Among the 245 successful suicides, found that males (75.9%) committed suicide more than females (24.1%). The age group 31-40 years was highest number of suicides (44.1%), followed by group 51-69 years age group at 30.2%, 41-50 years (12.6%), 70 years and above (9.4%), 0-19 years (2.1%), and 21-30 years (1.6%), respectively. The most common method used was hanging, followed by poisoning, carbon monoxide poisoning, and stabbing, in that order. A statistically significant difference (p = 0.020) was found when comparing different methods of suicide between men and women. However, this data cannot predict the method each gender or age group will choose for suicide; it can only serve as a guideline to study potential trends
