Abstract

From global warming, the temperature tends to rise continuously. While exercising in hot weather, body  temperature is maintained normally through a mechanism  called thermoregulation. If this thermo regulation is  malfunction due to heat exposure and cooling failure.  Which leads to dysfunctional thermo regulation. Symptoms  range from mild to muscle cramps, heatstroke, heat  exhaustion, and the most severe to life-threatening heat stroke. This article reviews pathophysiology, clinical manifestations, diagnosis, risk factors and treatment of  exercise related heat illness. We focus on exertional heat  stroke about rapid recognition and effective management,  especially cooling methods in field, prehospital, emergency department to reduce complications or death. Furthermore, heat illness is preventable. Preventive strategies and planning of exercise are important.
