Abstract

Dental treatment in the elderly is more complicated than the others due to physical, mental, social and environmental changes. Complete denture fabrication in the elderly may has some limitations such as inability to perform pre-prosthetic Surgery. Therefore, the modification of denture designing is needed. CAD/CAM technology, which includes denture designing and manufacturing, can reduce the duration of treatment. Furthermore, the great advantage is reproducibility, which allows making new or spare dentures without clinical appointments, in case of losing or breaking dentures. Studies show that 3D printed dentures exhibit good retention, stability and support. This article reports an 83-year-old female patient  managed with complete dentures, which designed and manufactured by CAD/CAM technology, shortly after the complete dentures that produced by conventional technique were lost. The patient was highly satisfied with the 3D printed dentures  in terms of reproducibility, treatment process, function, esthetics and travel expenses for treatment. Thus, CAD/CAM technology can be utilized to replace the conventional technique of complete denture fabrication in the elderly
