Accessible to Dental Services of the Elderly

Abstract

The important oral conditions among older people are teeth loss. So the accessible to dental
service is important in prevention, control disease and reduce tooth loss. The objectives of this cross sectional
descriptive study were to survey oral health status of the elderly, assess the level of accessible to dental
services and identify factor related to access to dental services of elderly in Moo 7 Banlaipho, Plakraet
Subdistrict, Bangrakam District, Phitsanulok. The 120 elderly were sampled by simple random sampling
techniques.Questionnaires were used for data collection. The data were analyzed by descriptive
statistics and Pearson’s correlation coefficient. The result showed that, 50.8% of the elderly retained their
natural teeth and the mean of number of teeth were 11.38. The elderly demanded for dental prosthetic
about 67.5%.Overall accessible to dental services was moderate level (64.2%). Factor significantly related
to dental care services was age (r = - 0.207, p < 0.05). Thus the providers should focus on the proactive
dental services and facilitate in service of the elderly.
