Factors Related to Correct Tooth Brushing Among Elementary School Students in Municipal School of Nakhon Ratchasima Province

Abstract
This cross-sectional analytic study aimed to identify factors related to correct tooth brushing among elementary school students in Nakhon Ratchasima Province. The study’s sample size included 213 students. Using stratified random sampling by dividing the population into groups according to their study level. Then, randomly sample students at each grade level in proportion to the population. Data were collected from June to December 2021 using an online questionnaire. For data analysis, descriptive statistics, such as percentages, means, standard deviations, medians, minimums, and maximums, were used. Adjusted odds ratios (ORs), 95% confidence intervals (95%CI), and p-values were determined using multiple logistic regression analysis. The study findings revealed that students had an appropriate level of knowledge (85.5%), attitude (70.9%), and correct tooth brushing (56.8%). It was also found that parents demonstrated an adequate level of knowledge and attitude (90.6% and 75.1, respectively), but their correct tooth brushing was deemed inappropriate (65.3%). In addition to parental age (ORadj=2.05; 95%CI=1.04-4.02; p=0.037) and students’ attitudes (ORadj=3.29; 95%CI=1.62-6.70; p=0.01), there was also a significant relationship with students’ correct tooth brushing. This study indicates that among school-aged children, especially those with young parents or no prior parenting experience, oral health awareness needs to be raised.
