Health Risk Assessment of Apron Workers: Case Study at Nonsumran Sub–District Keangsanamnang District Nakhon Ratchasima Province
Abstract
This research aimed to assess health risk of people who make aprons in the
NakhonRatchasima Province. The study was conducted with 172 workers by interviewing
and using a Health Risk Assessment form and a form examining work conditions and the
work environment. The data were analyzed by using descriptive statistics.
The results describe the health hazards related to fabricate aprons. It was found
that through the cloth preparing process the rsik of workers were strained for a long time
(93.33%). Cloth cutting process mostly used wrist repeatedly for a long time, and they had
to stare extensively at 90% in both actions. The sewing process mostly caused the workers
to sit in the same position for a long time (91.92%) And this applies also for the checking
and packing process (83.22%). Another health hazard is is the chemical fumes oozing out of
(70.00%), and from staring at work piece for a long time (50.00%). During the cloth cutting
process, the workers highly risked to be harmed by staring at work piece for too long
(46.66%), and inhaling cloth dust (33.33%). During the sewing process, they highly risked to
be harmed from bending down and up continually for a long time (34.78%), inhaling
chemical smell (26.70%). In terms of checking and packing process, the workers highly
risked to be harmed from use their wrist repeatedly for a long time (21.93%), and by staring
at work piece for too long (19.35%).
The results of the study revealed significant health problems workers in the
apron making company are exposed to.
