Abstract

The purpose of this cross-sectional research was to examine
relationship between recycling behaviors of students with gender, age,
ever used to separating the recyclable waste at home, knowledge,
attitude, perceived availability of facilities and projects and being received
information about recycling behaviors. The samples consisted of 424 high
school students. They were voluntary selected and collected data by a
self-administered questionnaire and then were analyzed by stepwise
multiple regression.
Results of the study revealed that 59.4 percent of the students
were female with the average age of 15.6± 1.9 years. They never used to
separate the recyclable waste at home (55.7 percent). They had moderate
level of knowledge (42.5 percent) with the mean knowledge score of
9.8±2.8. Majority of them (67.0 percent) had a very good attitude level
with the mean attitude score of 58.5 ± 8.7. Their mean perception score of
the availability of facilities and projects was 4.0± 1.4 that 71.7 percent of
them had the perception score at the very good level. They had the
mean score of used to receiving the information of 7.2± 2.7 that was in a
very good level which were 63. 4 percent of the samples. And 61. 8
percent of the samples had the moderate level of recyclable waste
separation behaviors with the mean score of 18.9±5.2. The used to receiving
information, attitude, knowledge, gender, and perceived availability of
facilities and projects factors had significantly related to the recyclable
waste separation behaviors at 0.05 (Adjusted R2=0.165, p<0.001).
