Abstract

Technology development are increase amount of electronic equipment
results electronic waste ( E-waste) problem, that can harm human health
and accumulation in the environment. Disposal E-waste and municipal solid
waste through uncontrolled landfills can cause the spread of heavy metals
to the ecosystem. To considered in an environment and economy aspect.
E-waste disposal and metal recovery technology is getting attention. Many
techniques can be used for recovery metal from E-waste. Bioleaching process is
one of the alternative methods due to its environmentally friendly and its
associated low cost. However, disposal and recovery of metal by bioleaching
process have to cooperate with other techniques. The efficiency technique
such as adsorption by resin. This research aimed to select the best resin that
can recovery copper from synthetic copper-citrate complexes, which was
generated in metal extraction from E-waste by microorganism or bioleaching
by adsorption and desorption technique. Three resins were selected for the
experiment Chelex 100, Dowex m4195 and Lewatit TP260 were conducted
using batch reactor system. The results found that Dow m4195 had the highest
adsorption capacity (86%) and 2 M sulfuric acid had the ability of desorption
about 52% and 31.25 mg/g. Equilibrium adsorption were studies by nonlinear
regression method. The results indicated that Redlich Peterson isotherm
model consisted of the equilibrium adsorption, which implied monolayer
and multilayer of adsorption process in nature. The maximum adsorption
capacity of copper onto Dowex m4195 was 88.7 mg/g. It was concluded that
Dowex m4195 is suitable for copper adsorption from synthetic bioleaching
solution from E-waste and achieved in the recovery of copper and reuse
from.
