The purpose of this research was to develop a causal relationship
model of preventive behavior on low back pain from eightcauses of disease
among people in Chonburi province. The model consisted of five latent
variables: attitude toward behavior, subjective norm, perceived behavior
control, behavioral intention and low back pain preventive behavior. The
sample, derived by means of multistage random sampling, consisted of 450
people who received Thai traditional medicine service with low back pain
symptom at government hospital in Chonburi province aged between 2060
years. The research instruments were questionnaires. Causal model analysis
involved the use of LISREL.
Results indicated that the model of preventive behavior on low back
pain from eightcausesof disease among people in Chonburi province was
consistent with empirical data. Model validation of good fitted model
provided ChiSquare test of goodness of fit=119.39, p=0.06, GFI=0.97, AGFI=
0.95, CFI=0.99, NNFI=0.98, NFI=0.98, SRMR=0.043 and RMSEA=0.046. All
independent variables in the model were accounted for 72% of the variance
of preventive behavior on low back pain from eightcauses of disease.
Behavioral intention, interaction between behavioral intention and perceived
behavior control on disease had direct effect on practice to preventive
behavior on low back pain from eightcause of disease were 0.69 and 0.26
respectively. Perceived behavior control on disease, Subjective Norm and
Attitude toward preventive behavior had indirect effect on practice to
preventive behavior on low back pain from eightcause of disease were 0.53,
0.13 and 0.03 respectively.
In conclusion, behavioral intention and perceived behavior control on
disease are most important to preventive behavior on low back pain from
eightcauses of disease.
