Flood Sufferer Is Environmental Health Problem of Nonsang District, Nongbualamphu Province

This study is survey description research study, previous data study. The objective
is study about flood victim’s environmental health problem, services and helps from relate
government sector, and the impact to flood victim household’s health. Population bring to
use for this study is head of household that suffer from flood in 2010 of Nonsang District,
Nongbualamphu Province total of 109 households, the type of long-term spate over 7 days.
Collecting data by using questionnaires and observation, bring data to mean analyze,
standard deviation, percentage, maximum score, and minimum score, median.
Study results found that the impact from flood caused household’s damage, value
between 10,001 to 20,000 baht about 62.4 percent and paddy rice field damage value
between 10,001 to 20,000 baht about 35.8 percent. The government paid compensation
5,000 baht per household, in case of paddy rice field damage between 10,001 to 20,000 baht
45.0 percent. For flood’s victim environmental health problem as follows, house’s damage
55.1 percent, move to live with relatives 45.9 percent, unclean drinking water 57.8 percent,
lack of water supply 50.4 percent, and unclean water usage 47.7 percent, solid rubbish
waste 97.2 percent, toilet sewerage blockage 76.1 percent, food spoilage due to no storage
94.4 percent, insects and disease carrier such as mosquitoes during flood 95.4 percent, rats
89.9 percent. Impact to health had an effect on mental health it caused stressed 94.4 percent,
accident such as incised wound, pierce 23.8 percent, admission in the public hospital 78.8
percent. For flood victim’s satisfaction to government sectors and related organizations,
found to be medium level satisfaction.
In helping for flood victims’ environmental health during flood, they should manage
solid waste disposal, food sanitation, toilet using, drinking water, and household water.
After the flood, government should focus on manage insects and disease carrier to reduce
the spread of the disease.
