Development of Pharmaceutical Preparation from Rice Bran Oil for Health Promotion

Abstract

The aim of this study was to test anti-tumor activity against human melanoma cell (A375). Cultured cells were exposed to various rice bran oil  containing gamma  oryzanol in different concentrations. It was found that rice bran oil containing gamma oryzanol 18,000 ppm give good result for cytotoxicity, antimigration, antiinvasion, antiadhesion and finally inhibited tube formation. Therefore rice bran oil containing gamma oryzanol 18,000 ppm  10%, 15% and 20% w/w were used to formulate lotion and evaluate physical stability of texture, color, smell, viscosity and pH at room temperature (27-30 ^oC) for 4 weeks and heating and  cooling between the refrigerator temperature -5°C and incubator temperature 50°C  48 hours  for six cycles. The results   of physical stability test showed that lotions are stable. It can protect skin dryness, prevent skin cancer and prevent oxidation from UV exproure.
