หอผู้ป่วยหนักอายุรกรรมและศูนย์ส่องกล้องเป็นพื้นที่เสี่ยงต่อการติดเชื้อจึงควรใช้เทคโนโลยีแสงฆ่าเชื้อควบคุม การติดเชื้อ การวิจัยนำร่องกึ่งทดลองแบบวัดก่อนและหลังการทดลองครั้งนี้มีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อประเมินประสิทธิผลของ ระบบแสงฆ่าเชื้อความยาวคลื่น 405 นาโนเมตรในการลดปริมาณเชื้อแบคทีเรียบนพื้นผิวสัมผัสบ่อยในหอผู้ป่วยหนัก อายุรกรรม 2 และศูนย์ส่องกล้องชินราชา โดยควบคุมปัจจัยกวนด้านมาตรการเช็ดทำความสะอาดและระบบ ระบายอากาศ เก็บตัวอย่างด้วยวิธี contact-plate sampling บนอาหารเลี้ยงเชื้อสำเร็จรูปก่อนและหลังการเปิดใช้งาน ระบบแสงฆ่าเชื้อต่อเนื่อง 24 ชั่วโมง นำเสนอข้อมูลเป็นค่ามัธยฐานและพิสัยระหว่างควอไทล์ เปรียบเทียบข้อมูล รายคู่ด้วยสถิติ Wilcoxon signed-rank test ซึ่งพบว่าหลังเปิดระบบแสง 24 ชั่วโมงปริมาณเชื้อแบคทีเรียเฉลี่ยลดลง อย่างมีนัยสำคัญทางสถิติในทุกโซน (ลดลงร้อยละ 81-90) (p = 0.002) สำหรับศูนย์ส่องกล้องฯ ในสภาวะไม่มีผู้ป่วย ปริมาณเชื้อเฉลี่ยลดลงร้อยละ 98.88-99.03 และในสภาวะมีผู้ป่วยและปฏิบัติงานจริงปริมาณเชื้อเฉลี่ยลดลงร้อยละ 94.61-96.81 อย่างมีนัยสำคัญทางสถิติในทุกห้องตรวจ (p < 0.001) สรุปได้ว่าการใช้งานระบบแสงต้านจุลชีพ 405 นาโนเมตรต่อเนื่องเป็นเวลา 24 ชั่วโมงลดปริมาณแบคทีเรียบนพื้นผิวสัมผัสบ่อยอย่างมีนัยสำคัญทางสถิติ จึงควรใช้ ระบบแสง 405 นาโนเมตรเป็นมาตรการเสริมร่วมกับการทำความสะอาดสิ่งแวดล้อมตามปกติ
