Knee osteoarthritis is a common health problem in older adults. This quasi-experimental research aimed to compare a new clinical nursing practice guideline (CNPG) and a routine nursing practice guideline. Sixty patients were recruited to from total knee arthroplasty patients in Somdejphrachaotaksinmaharaj Hospital, Tak during November 2020 to February 2021. The control group (30 patients) received a routine nursing practice guideline and the experimental group (30 patients) received a newly developed clinical nursing practice guideline for total knee osteoarthritis patients received total knee arthroplasty. Data were analyzed using chi-square test, Mann Whitney U test and independent sample t-test with significant level at 0.05. There were no difference in sex, age, commodity disease, body mass index, caregiver, degree of extension and flexion in both groups. The pain scores in the experimental group were lower than the control group with statistically significant. The nurses used new CNPG had higher satisfaction score than nurses used routine nursing practice guideline with significant difference. Therefore, new CNPG should be used as a guideline in the care of patients undergoing total knee replacement surgery for good results. Patients can return to normal activities as soon as possible and increase patient satisfaction with nursing services.
