การล้มในผู้สูงอายุเป็นปัญหาสำคัญเพราะทำให้บาดเจ็บจนถึงพิการและเสียชีวิตได้ การวิจัยนี้จึงมีวัตถุประสงค์ เพื่อสำรวจความชุก ผลกระทบ และปัจจัยที่เกี่ยวข้องกับการล้มในกลุ่มผู้สูงอายุติดสังคมอายุ 60-70 ปีที่อาศัยใน อำเภอหล่มสักระหว่างเดือนเมษายน-เดือนธันวาคม พ.ศ. 2563 ด้วยแบบสอบถาม ซึ่งพบว่าผู้สูงอายุ 278 คนนั้น เป็นเพศหญิงร้อยละ 66.2 อายุเฉลี่ย 64 ปี การศึกษาระดับประถมศึกษาร้อยละ 81.3 อาชีพเกษตรกรร้อยละ 45 ในระยะเวลา 6-12 เดือนที่ผา่ นมาเคยลม้ รอ้ ยละ 48.6 (เฉลี่ยลม้ 1 ครั้งในรอบป) กิจกรรมที่ทำกอ่ นลม้ มากที่สุดคือ กำลังเดิน รองลงมาคือกำลังทำงาน และกำลังเร่งรีบ ผู้สูงอายุคิดว่าสาเหตุของการล้มเกิดจากลื่นไถลมากที่สุด (ร้อยละ 25.9) รองลงมาคือสิ่งแวดล้อมไม่ปลอดภัย (เช่น พื้นที่เปียก/ขรุขระ) ร้อยละ 24.8 ผู้สูงอายุ 135 คนเคยล้ม (ความชุกของการล้มร้อยละ 48.6) และร้อยละ 77 ได้รับบาดเจ็บซึ่งเป็นลักษณะเคล็ดขัดยอก ฟกช้ำ และมีแผลถลอก ร้อยละ 38.1, 30.7 และ 13.1 ตามลำดับ เมื่อได้รับบาดเจ็บต้องไปพบแพทย์หรือบุคลากรทางการแพทย์ร้อยละ 54.8 ทั้งนี้ ในกลุ่มเคยล้มกลัวการล้มครั้งต่อไปมากกว่ากลุ่มที่ไม่เคยล้ม 2.8 เท่า (Adj OR = 2.81, 95% CI 1.37-5.78, p = 0.005) ดังนั้นควรใช้ข้อมูลนี้ประกอบการจัดทำแนวทางการออกแบบชุดกิจกรรมเพื่อป้องกันการล้มอย่าง เหมาะสมต่อไป
