Abstract

Multidisciplinary rehabilitation is a key to successful outcomes in stroke patients. However, access to rehabilitation in this group of patients is still limited. This study aimed to evaluate outcome of intermediate care (IMC) rehabilitation program for sub-acute stroke patients in Chumphae Hospital. Using a retrospective analytic design to evaluate outcome of sub-acute stroke patients attended IMC rehabilitation program compared to non-IMC group during 1 January 2019 to 31 December 2020. Primary outcome including Barthel Index (BI) gain compared between two groups were calculated by Mann-Whitney U test. The results showed that BI gain was increased in patients introduced IMC rehabilitation program when compared to non-IMC group and significantly increased in age group < 80 years (p = 0.018). The factor affecting the ability to perform daily activities was age. In conclusion, sub-acute stroke patients receiving IMC rehabilitation program have a statistically significant improvement in daily activities among patients younger than 80 years of age
