Delayed Replantation of Avulsed Permanent Incisor Tooth with 3 Hours Extraoral Dry Time
Replantation of Avulsed Permanent Incisor Tooth

Avulsion of the permanent tooth is one of the serious injuries of the tooth which is commonly found in children and adolescents. It generally occurs in the maxillary central incisor which affects facial esthetics. Immediate replantation of the avulsed tooth is recommended treatment and results in good prognosis. However, this ideal treatment may not be always possible. As a result of this, proper guideline and urgency treatment methods are necessary. This report presented a case of maxillary left central incisor which was replanted after 3 hours extraoral dry time. The endodontic treatment of the avulsed tooth was performed before the avulsed tooth was replanted. The endodontic treatment was performed by removing pulpal tissue and filling with gutta percha. After that the avulsed tooth was replanted and splinted with stainless steel wire and resin composite. One year follow up visit, clinically the maxillary left central incisor was asymptomatic and maintained the esthetics with normal function. However, 0.5 millimeters infraocclusion and replacement root resorption were found. Replacement root resorption is a common complication of delayed replantation. Although replacement root resorption may be unavoidable, delayed replantation of avulsed tooth may be a good alternativeness to preserve the alveolar bone until the craniofacial growth is completed
