การผ่าตัดยึดกระดูกสันหลังส่วนคอ sub-axial ด้านหลังด้วยสกรูเป็นหัตถการที่ทำบ่อยในการผ่าตัดกระดูกสันหลัง บทความนี้ได้ ทบทวนเทคนิคการผ่าตัดในส่วน lateral mass ซึ่งเป็นเทคนิคที่นิยมใช้ในการผ่าตัด โดยสรุปเทคนิควิธีการ ขั้นตอนในแต่ละเทคนิคด้วยรูปภาพเพื่อให้เข้าใจได้ง่ายในการใส่สกรู ทางเข้ามุม และแนวของแต่ละเทคนิค เช่น เทคนิคของ Roy-Camille, Louis, Magerl, Anderson, An และ Riew รวมทั้งเทคนิคการใส่สกรูกระดูกส่วนคอชิ้นที่ 7 ซึ่งได้บรรยายวิธีการผ่าตัดแต่ละเทคนิคและขั้นตอนการ ผ่าตัดเพื่อให้แพทย์ผู้ทำผ่าตัดได้เลือกเทคนิคที่เหมาะสมสำหรับผู้ป่วยแต่ละคนเพื่อให้การผ่าตัดประสบความสำเร็จและเกิดภาวะ แทรกซ้อนที่น้อยที่สุด
