Development of a New Nursing Management Model in the Digital Disruption Era

Abstract

The rapid pace of change in the digital era has led to the widespread integration of technology into management practices. Modern nursing leaders need to acquire technological skills to address issues affecting nursing practice, adapt to change, and generate new knowledge for organizational survival and advancement. This research and development study aimed to develop a nursing management model for nursing administrators in the digital disruption era. The research was divided into three phases: Phase 1 which examined problems and needs in nursing management during the digital disruption era, Phase 2 which involved the development and implementation of the model, and Phase 3 which assessed the model's effectiveness. 

The results from Phase 1 revealed that the participants identified their needs to develop digital skills and management capabilities in the digital disruption era, particularly in the use of technology for management, data analysis, and decision-making. In Phase 2, the A-I-C technique was applied to identify problems and collaboratively develop the NURSE Model, which consisted of five key components: 1) Building collaborative networks and fostering innovation, 2) Developing digital skills and promoting lifelong learning, 3) Risk management and security, 4) Promoting ethical digital leadership, and 5) Enhancing stakeholder engagement. The model was implemented among modern nursing administrators.

The results of Phase 3 revealed that the participants' scores related to digital knowledge and technology skills increased significantly (p<0.05). The participants expressed high satisfaction with the new nursing management model (mean=4.30, SD=0.59), gained substantial knowledge from the model (mean=4.43, SD=0.50), and were highly satisfied with the model development process (mean=4.43, SD=0.56). The model had a statistically significant effect on overall satisfaction (p<.05).

To The research recommended that modern nursing executives use a standardized curriculum with an emphasis on the development of management, decision-making, learning, and problem-solving skills using modern technology in order to effectively deal with the challenges of the digital disruption era.
