Development of Completed Suicide Prevention Approaches, Chi Nam Rai Subdistrict, Inburi District, Singburi Province

Abstract

Suicide can have long-lasting effects on individuals, but it is preventable. This mixed method research was hence conducted to investigate how to prevent it through completed suicide prevention approaches. The research collected data from four relatives or close ties who were requested to provide information according to the 506DS form. The research investigated 51 samples obtained through purposive sampling. Data were obtained through in-depth interviews and a group discussion and analyzed using percentage and content analysis.

The results revealed that 1) the majority of the samples belonged to the following age groups: 30-44 years (34.73%), 15-29 years (17.24%), and the elderly (14.46%). 2) Despite the implementation of a policy aimed at preventing completed suicide, the policy did not adequately address the needs of families.3) An approach for completed should be designed to incorporate the three key principles including knowledge, love, and unity according to the ‘Three-Doctor’ policy.

The research recommended 1) Inburi’s District Health Coordinating Committee recruit village health volunteers to provide mental health guidance and 2) research and develop collaboration with local administrative organizations in monitoring mental health problems in working age people to prevent completed suicide in working-age people.
