Nursing care of ectopic pregnant patients with shock: a case study

Abstract

     Ectopic pregnant with shock is gynecological emergency that causes of pregnancy-related death  in the first trimester. Delay in diagnosis and treatment could be serious consequences for a life of pregnant women. The case study of a woman patient, 24 years old, after pregnancy for 2 times was admitted to the postpartum ward on 23^th December 2018. Before going to hospital, patient had pain in the lower right abdomen and vaginal bleeding. Early 2 weeks, patient had miscarriage and received curettage.

The patient was checked by pregnancy diagnosis examination. This result showed positive and free fluid in cul-de-sac was observed by ultrasound. The doctor diagnosed that the patient had ectopic pregnant and shock, the blood concentration levels of 29 %. Thus patient was explored laparotomy with right salpingectomy. Patient was received the nursing care since primary diagnosis until after surgery. Patient had no  complication  from shock. However, the patient could be the risk for shock. Therefore, the patient was received peripheral venous fluid  and administered the drug until free of danger. After surgery, the patient had treated the pain and aware of risk to infection. Finally, the patient was not infected. The patient was discharged on 26^th December 2018, totally for admission in the hospital for 3 days. The complication was not found after discharging of patient.

Nurse have an  important role in every stage of shock period. Acute renal failure and surgical wound infection are complication. The nurse must sharpen and improve skills in order to be able to care any life, threatening problems. Efficiency nursing care is essential for patient^, safety and satisfaction.
