Abstract

Brain tumor is a disorder in the growth of a mass in the brain or in the skull and may be caused by abnormalities of stem cells in the nervous system and brain. As well as impaired function of the brain from pathologies of other diseases that metastasis to the brain. Craniotomy is a method of treating brain tumors. However, the operation will be much effective then depends on the type and the location of the brain tumor that can completely eliminate the tumor or can be partially removed and may affecting the patient's physical and mental post- operation. Therefore, the scrub nurses are an important role in helping the surgical team to treat patients successfully and safe from complications. The author is therefore interested in a comparative study of nursing, brain tumor surgery that can total remove tumors andpartial remove tumors, Is a comparison of 2 case studies.

Case study I: Thai male patient, 43 years old. History before coming to the hospital for 2 months. Left arm weakness, Bell's Palsy, drooped left eyelid, headache in the morning. 2 days before coming to the hospital with a Bell's palsy. More drooped left eyelid and had a lot of headaches. The symptoms did not improve and therefore went to Laem Chabang Hospital for treatment as according to rights. The doctor sent a CT-Scan to see that mass at right frontal lobe size 5.0 x 5.2 x5.6 cm and brain edema and midline shift 1.2 cm. Therefore, refer the patients to treatment at Chonburi Hospital on 29 April 2020. The surge on set OR for Right craniotomy with remove tumor on 30 April 2020. The operation takes 2 hours and 5 minutes. Estimate blood loss 600 ml.1 Day after the surgery, the patient has a fever of 38.2 degrees. Surgery wound is pain still having weak left arm in 4th grade. Awareness levels and normal vital signs and going to do physical therapy. and go back to home on May 7, 2020, was included in the hospital for 9 days. Case study II: Thai woman 53 years come to the Chonburi Hospital with headache, spasticity 4 times, the right limb is weak, the right mouth corner falls. Relative brings to check on May 19 2020. The physician let to admit and submit MRI examination found that the tumor size 5x6 cm in left parietal lope. The patient had surgery brain tumor on February 5, 2020 which is partially surgically removed. The patient had congenital diabetes and high blood pressure. For this time, the doctor set surgery Re craniotomy with lobectomy left parietal lope with partial remove tumor on May 20, 2020 which takes 2 hours 45 minutes and estimate blood loss 550 ml for surgery. 1 day after surgery, the patient had a fever 39 degrees, surgical pain, the right limb is weak in 2th grade, the right mouth corner falls, awareness levels and vital signs are normal. To practice physical and allowed to go home on May 27, 2020. Included in the hospital for 8 days This study shows that nurses play an important role in caring for patients with brain tumor surgery. Makes the patient safe, without complications and able to return home safely.
