Leadership and Management in Modern Nursing

This article aimed to reflect the importance of leadership and management competencies of modern nursing leaders, who encountered rapid changes in the era of disruption, and the pandemic of emerging infectious diseases such as COVID-19, which killed many world citizens. Thus, executives, leaders, and nursing managers must be qualified in five dimensions: (1) General Qualifications, (2) Cognitive Qualifications, (3) Practical Qualifications, (4) Affective Qualifications, and (5) Specialty Qualifications. Furthermore, they should have six competencies including (1) Modern technology management, (2) Communication and Human relationship, (3) Supervision, (4) Decision making and problem-solving, (5) Clinical academic expertise, and (6) Ethical and quality control. Nursing leaders who meet all these qualifications and competencies can result in quality and efficient nursing services as well as sustainable nursing and health organizations.
