Perception toward Unintended Pregnancy Prevention and Abortion Problem among Undergraduate Student Leaders in Private Higher Education Institutions

Abstract
This qualitative research aims to explain the perceptions toward unintended pregnancy prevention and abortion problems among undergraduate student leaders in private higher education institutions. Ten samples - student leaders from private higher education institutions who attended the counseling training for enhancing sexual health and preventing unintended pregnancy and abortion problems among students, have been intentionally selected. The data have been gathered by an in-depth interview consisted of semi-structured questions, a tape recorder, and field notes before analyzing by contents.
The results of this research are as follows: The students reflect their perception toward unintended pregnancy prevention and abortion in these two points: 1) perception toward problem-facing, which are the state of having no sources of correct information or reliable counselors along with being afraid of social rejection 2) awareness of both pregnancy prevention and problem solution in case of having unintended pregnancy: alternative self-decision, abortion under medical discretion and the allowance of family-participation decision.
All from the student leaders' perception shows that various counseling ways, along with reliable counselors, should be accessibly provided in order to promptly serve ones who are facing the problem. Advisors and a network of psychologists, in addition, should be set up for complicated and uncontrollable situations which the student leaders are not able to deal with.
