Development of Guidance Model for Complication Prevention in Children with A cyanotic Congenital Heart Disease Aged 0 - 1 Year

Abstract
The purposes of this research were to 1.develop a model of guidance for caregivers to prevent complications in children with acyanotic congenital heart disease aged 0 - 1 years. 2. test the results of using the advice model. The research was carried out in 3 phases, namely:1. Studying and analyzing basic data,2.Designing and developing a model, and 3. Evaluating the use of the model. The tools used in the research were: 1.guidance model; 2.questionnaires regarding the knowledge perceived and behaviors of caregivers in children with acyanosis congenital heart diseases. Data analysis was performed using descriptive, frequency, percentage, mean, standard deviation, Paired t-test and Student's t-test.
The research results found that:
1. A guidance model for complication prevention in children with acyanotic congenital heart disease aged 0-1 years consists of knowledge, demonstration, practice with 7 topics: 1. Knowledge about acyanotic congenital heart disease, 2. Nutrition care, 3. Medication, 4. Infection prevention, 5.Observation signs of complication, 6. Early stimulation and immunization for children, and 7.Appointment keeping. Providing consultation through telephone regarding caregiver’s problem on performing caring behaviors for their children
2.The results of the study showed that after the experimentation the caregivers of the experimental group gained significantly higher proper caring behaviors of their children with acyanotic congenital heart disease than before the experimentation, in regard to: perceived severity; perceived vulnerability of getting complications; perceived response efficacy; self-efficacy; behavior intention, and behaviors on caring children with a cyanotic congenital heart disease (p<0.001). It was also found that after the experimentation the average number of time of getting respiratory infection among the children of the experimental group decreased significantly (p<0.001)
