Effectiveness of Video Media in Preparing Blenderized Diet for Caregivers

Abstract

The video media was a type of multimedia that consists of still image, animation, sound, and text can help stimulate learning more easily, clearly visualize, virtual reality, and stimulate interest. This video media was a medium that serve to communicate from learning source to learner which quickly and easy to understand, it can be repeatedly if cannot be remembered at once. The researcher think that video media was more effective than document media. The objective of this quasi experimental research was to study the effectiveness of video media in preparing blenderized diet for caregivers. The subjects in this study were 32 caregivers . The subjects were randomly of purposive sampling assigned into two groups, the experimental and the comparison group. There were 16 persons in each group. The data records were collected using the questionnaires developed by the researcher. Percentage, means, standard deviation, paired sample t-test and independent t-test were applied for data analysis.


The results of comparison between the groups after the experiment were found that the experimental group have knowledge of blenderized diet higher than before and were significantly higher than control group (p=0.05) .The completeness scores and correct were of blenderized diet preparation and the quality score of the viscosity feed were significantly higher than the control group (p=0.05). However, knowledge score of blenderized diet before and after experiment and the quality score of cleanliness were not different. This video material created is effective and useful to teach caregivers for the preparation of blenderized diet than teaching materials in the document form.
