The Evaluation Results of Youth Friendly Health Services of Health region zone 1, 2013-2015

Abstract

The background of the problem :  at present the reproductive health of adolescents and youth in Thailand is severe increasing. In addition the premature sex trends are increasing, the consequence impact is that the number of unwanted pregnancy, unsafe abortion ,sexual transmitted infections and AIDS. World statistics showed that the rates of childbirth among 15-19 year old women are at the rate of 55.7 per thousand (World Population Prospects, the 2010th revision). The national data of the Bureau of Policy and Strategy Ministry of Public Health in 2016 It was found that the preterm delivery rate in adolescents aged 15-19 was 42.5 per thousand. The rate of repeat pregnancy was 11.9%. The rate of sexually transmitted diseases was 43.44 per hundred thousand. Health Region 1Found that the rates of childbirth among 15-19 year old women was 34.1 per thousand and HDC data showed that the rate of repeat pregnancy was 15.8%, which was higher than the standard (not more than 10%). There are 3 provinces have got the highest repeat pregnancy were Chiang Rai, Phrae and Chiang Mai ; 18.36%, 18.35% and 18.28%. The Department of Health began to set the planning, developing, and developing the YFHS standards to improve the quality of services for adolescents and youth for enable access and use standardized health services that will be able to reduce the reproductive health of adolescents and youth problems in the future.

             The objective of this study :  study the results of the assessment of Youth Friendly

Health Services in 2013-2015.               Study method :  a qualitative and quantitative study was conducted in 8 provinces. Descriptive statistics, Percentage.

               The results showed that in 2013-2015, there are 76 hospitals pass the assessment

of Youth Friendly Health Services, 77.55% higher than the target. (60 %). There are 2 provinces pass the assessment 100 % ; Phayao and Mae Hong Son province. Chiang Rai and Lampang Provinces were evaluated by over 90%. The key to success is the policy of the executive, provincial managers, the organization integration, information systems, proactive working and networking partners.

               Conclusions and Critiques: the assessment of Youth Friendly

Health Services is a way to develop standardized health services for adolescents with that take time and commitment. Provincial managers are an important role person in the implementation with gain to the comprehensive and effective health services.               Recommendations : The Provincial Health official should be supervision,     empowerment and encourage the district hospital realize to the importance of development on  a youth-friendly health service for adolescents to assess their standards.
