Case report: Reestablishment of occlusal vertical dimension with removable partial denture
Abstract
Patient who have lost many posterior teeth may also occurred the non opposing tooth between jaw. Due to unreplacement of missing tooth with denture, mastication force will be loaded on anterior and remaining tooth, consequence of increasing the tooth wear and loss of occlusal
vertical dimension (OVD). Even though the prosthetic treatment in patient presenting multi posterior tooth loss without the adjustment of their own individual OVD, not lead to function and aesthetic acceptability and strength of the denture. This present case report showed the reestablishment of OVD in patient who has old broken removable partial denture and incorrect OVD. The procedures, OVD assessment was performed, provisional removable partial denture was provided according to OVD measurement. After that a cobalt-chromium removable partial denture was done as a final prosthesis. The result showed a satisfaction of mastication recovery performance associated with the recovery of facial esthetic in the patient and dentist ‘s role.
