Situation of Adolescent Pregnancy: A case study of antenatal or giving birth women in Thoen Hospital, Lampang

Abstract

Purposes: To study the situation of teenage pregnancy at antenatal care (ANC) or maternity in Thoen Hospital, Lampang and to determine the factors associated with failure to solve the problem of teenage pregnancy.

Methodology : Data was collected by interview adolescents who are pregnant or giving birth in Thoen Hospital during June 2014 to March 2015.Basic information, factors associated with pregnancy and sexual behavior were analyzed using descriptive statistics include percentage and average.

Results : Form 45 pregnant adolescents at ANC and gave birth in Thoen hospital. Factors that may affect pregnancy in adolescentsare depletion of sex knowledge, contraception and pregnancy, with negligence in sex and life, Family environment such as neglected child, parents split up, no sexual education to children. Moreover, Friends are important for those with family problems. There are more issuesof loneliness, sexual curiousness and alcohol drinking are other factors lead to unprotected sexual intercourse.

In summary : Factors that contribute to teenage pregnancy are the depletion of sex education, negligence, environment within the family and friends, and risk behaviors of adolescents.
