Results of cervical cancer screening in women who had history of gynaecologic symptoms at Obstetrics and gynaecology clinic in Sanpatong Hospital Chiangmai Province

This study aimed to find out the pre-cancerous lesion or cervical cancer in female patients who used to come to Sanpatong hospital for gynaecologic symptoms such as abnormal leukorrhea, abnormal vaginal bleeding, dysuria, pelvic pain and pelvic inflammatory disease. This study was analytic cross sectional study. We studied in 297 patients and collected data by PAP smear and questionnaire. Results : the mean age of patients was 50.40 years old. Most of them were primary education, married, employee occupation and no disease. Mean age of first sexual intercourse was 22.69 years old. Most of them were single partner, no partner disease, non-hormonal contraception, no smoking and no history of pregnancy. The numbers and disease of partner were related with the pre-cancerous lesion or cervical cancer in that patients (P<0.05). Age, education, status, occupation, disease, age at first sexual intercourse, methods of contraception and smoking were not related with the pre-cancerous lesion or cervical cancer (P<0.05). Abnormal PAP smear were found in patients who came with abnormal leukorrhea 1.61%, dysuria 1.43%, pelvic pain 4.44% and all of gynaecologic symptoms were not related with the pre-cancerous lesion or cervical cancer (P<0.05).
