Effects of Program For Promoting of Purchasing Non-contaminated Food of Household’s Cooks Living in Kham Muang District, Kalasin Province

Food is an important factor of human life. The insecurity food consumptions lead
harmfully to health. Buying safe food for consumption that is another way to go is to keep
healthy. The objective of this research was to study the effects of program for promoting in
buying safety food from contaminants among households who cook food in Kham Muang
District, Kalasin Province. The samples were 68 cookers and divided into an experimental
group and a control group and each group were 34 cookers. The experimental group was
received program for promoting in buying safety food from contaminants. The intervention
time was 12 weeks. The activities comprised of lecture with media, group discussion,
demonstrations and practice. Home visits were carried out by the researchers, health
volunteers and health professionals for motivation and suggestion. Data were collected by
using questionnaire and were analyzed as follows: descriptive data by descriptive statistics
such as mean, percentile, standard deviation etc. Comparative analyses were used Paired
Sample t-test and Independent t-test with significant level at 0.05.
Results found that the experimental group had mean score of the knowledge,
perceived risk of contaminated food, perceived severity of contaminated food, perceived
self–efficacy, outcome expectation practice more than before and control group statistically
significant (p-value<0.05). It is suggested that this program can be used to modify the behavior
of other people in the future.
