ATHEROSCLEROSIS PREVENTION BEHAVIORS AMONG KASIKORN BANK EMPLOYEES IN BANGKOK

Abstract

The purpose of this research was to study Atherosclerosis prevention behavior among Kasikorn Bank employees in Bangkok. Data was collected by questionnaire,test which validity was 0.81  Content of questionnaire were population characteristics, knowledge of Atherosclerosis prevention behavior test which reliability was 0.82, attitude of Atherosclerosis prevention behavior test which reliability was 0.76, enabling factors test which reliability was 0.84, reinforcing factors test which reliability was 0.88 and Atherosclerosis prevention behaviour test which reliability was 0.76. The sample population was 450 Kasikorn Bank employees selected by multi-stage sampling. Data was analyzed using chi-square, Pearson’s product moment correlation coefficient, and stepwise multiple regression.

The findings revealed that Kasikorn Bank employees in Bangkok behaved moderately regarding Atherosclerosis prevention ( = 36.22, SD = 6.93). Factors related to Atherosclerosis prevention behavior among Kasikorn Bank employees in Bangkok were knowledge regarding Atherosclerosis prevention (r = 0.53, p-value <.001), location/materials for health promotion (r = 0.52, p-value < .001), health promotion activities (r = 0.43, p-value   <.001), and health promotion policy(r = 0.36, p-value < .001). Low association between Supervisor’s support (r = 0.17, p-value <.001), co-worker’s support (r = 0.13, p-value .009), and family support (r = 0.08, p-value <.001) and Atherosclerosis prevention among Kasikorn Bank employees. Results from Stepwise Multiple Regression analysis indicated that knowledge on Atherosclerosis prevention behavior, location/materials, health promotion activities plan, perceived supervisor’s support could jointly predict Atherosclerosis prevention behavior at 28.2%.

This research suggests that the bank exertive should encourage Atherosclerosis prevention behavior through health education campaign, health promotion policy, and health promotion activity plans as well as support from supervisors, co-workers, and their families to promote Atherosclerosis prevention behavior for Kasikorn bank employees.
