Abstract

Background


           The number of hypertensive patients who visit Si Mueang Chum Health Promoting Hospital and have low-density lipoprotein (LDL) more than 160 mg/dl is increasing. From the study, 88.4% of them have unsuitable behavior especially in diet and lack of exercise. The authors who have the responsibilities to take care of these patients; therefore, are interested in finding the prevention and reduction of hyperlipidemia in these patients.


Objective


                Study the efficiency of hyperlipidemia reduction program that applies from integrated health behavior modification theory in hypertensive patients who have dyslipidemia condition.


Methodology


             This study is quasi-experimental research in hypertensive patients who have dyslipidemia condition and visit Si Mueang Chum Health Promoting Hospital. Samples are separated into 2 groups and compared before and after the application of hyperlipidemia reduction program that applies from the integrated health behavior modification theory for 6 months. The comparison is based on Paired t-test where the significant level is p<= 0.05.


Result


           The experimental group has an increasing behavior to reduce dyslipidemia after the application and more than the control group significantly where P value <.001. They have lower cholesterol and LDL but higher HDL after the experiment and the control group where p-value <..001.


Conclusion and Suggestion


        The hyperlipidemia reduction program that applies from the integrated health behavior modification theory can change the behavior of the samples and result in reducing hyperlipidemia significantly.
