This research presents a room-level electrical energy loss detection system for buildings, focusing specifically on identifying and alerting anomalies caused by standby loads, which are a significant yet often overlooked source of energy waste. The developed system integrates LoRaWAN technology with the ThingsBoard web application to enable wireless long-range data transmission within a building. The study was conducted in a main lecture room, which served as the representative case study. The results demonstrate that the system achieves high accuracy, with voltage and current measurement errors not exceeding ±3%. It also exhibits stable communication performance in building environments with high signal interference, achieving an average Received Signal Strength Indicator: RSSI of –61.01 dBm and an average Signal-to-Noise Ratio: SNR of 14.70 dB. A key feature of the system is its ability to accurately detect energy losses primarily associated with the standby mode of electrical appliances. During a four-week implementation period, the system reduced energy loss by 7,977.73 Wh, representing a 98.63% reduction compared with the pre-installation level.
