Abstract

The purpose of this quasi-experimental article aimed to study the effects of health literacy programs on self-care behaviors among diabetic patients at Rungnok sub-district. Sixty diabetic patients in Rungnok Health Promotion Hospital participated in this study. Using two-stage sampling, the thirty patients of the experimental group received the health literacy program and while the other thirty patients of the control group received the standard care. The pre-test and post-test questionnaires were used to collect the data and descriptive statistics, including frequency, percentage, mean and standard deviation. A paired t-test and Independent t-test were used to compare the mean score of self-care behaviors. The results revealed that the mean score of self-care behaviors in the experimental group were significantly higher than before implementing the program and were higher than the control group.
