The Effect of Participation and Perceived Self-efficacy Program on Health Behaviors and Hypertension of Pre-hypertension Group in Suan Miang Health Promoting Hospital

Abstract

This quasi-experimental research aimed to examine the effect of participation and perceive self-efficacy program on health behaviors and hypertension among pre-hypertension group in suan miang health promotion hospital, Chat Trakan District, Phitsanulok province. A purposive sampling was conducted that divided to experiment and control groups of 35 people each. The experiment group was applied with the participation and self-efficacy theory. For the control group was received the regular service. The data was collected from questionnaires before the experiment, during the experiment (7th week) and after the experiment (12th week). The descriptive statistical was analyzed and comparison of different data with Two – way repeated measures ANOVA, Bonferroni and t-test. 

                The results found that data from during and after the experiment of experiment group showed the means of self-efficacy levels and health behavior scores were higher than the control group with statistically significant at the p-value of 0.001. The research concluded that the participation and perceive self-efficacy program could promote the health behaviors and decrease of the hypertension. Therefore, health personnel should to integrate this program for suitable treatment the pre-hypertension group in order to control the health behaviors and hypertension.
